If I don’t get the 3G services on
my mobile, what should I check?
If your mobile set is not showing 3G
after ensuring 3G enabled mobile handset, USIM and 3G coverage
area, please set the network mode(band) in “dual mode” or “WCDMA
or UMTS (as per handset)” this option is mostly available in Tools
(setting) - phone – Network. Otherwise to change the spectrum
please check the handset manual.

Yes you can get it converted by

What is the spectrum of 3G
services?
In many
countries, 3G networks do not use the same radio frequencies as
2G, so mobile operators must build entirely new networks and
license entirely new frequencies; an exception is the United
States where carriers operate 3G service in the same frequencies
as other services. In India spectrum
allocated for 3G is 1962.5 /2152.5 Mhz
…. MTNL Delhi is offering 3G services on 2100 MHz band.

Will 3G services be enabled on my
existing SIM?
No ,. For 3G services, there are
separate SIM called USIM. USIM can be obtained from MTNL after
subscribing the 3G services from MTNL.

How will I get the
3G services? Where should I visit for the same?
The 3G services can be obtained from
MTNL’s Sanchar Haat at Eastern Court, Delhi and CGO complex,
Delhi. All you need is to fill up the form and submit the required
ID proof and address proof with the duly filled form. MTNL shall
provide the 3G USIM.

postpaid and prepaid offer both in 3G also?
At
present attractive postpaid offer is there from MTNL. For more

IMT-2000 standard. An organization called 3rd Generation
Partnership Project (3GPP) has continued that work by defining a
